Kay Wasserman, CFE

Gaining valuable experience initially as a CPA, then in the corporate world, and eventually franchising, Kay developed the ability to collate and sharpen numerous talents and abilities. She has fostered many relationships through her professional career and has found that building a strong relationship of trust is the most effective means of accomplishing anything.

The success of a franchise business model is built upon a solid relationship between the franchisor and franchisee. This is why Kay was drawn to franchise businesses and earned her CFE (Certified Franchise Executive) certificate from the IFA (International Franchise Association).

Problem solving and having an impact are key drivers for Kay. She takes deep satisfaction from helping others and driving scalable and sustainable solutions through collaborative accountability. Kay can develop successful strategies but is always willing to roll up her sleeves to do the hard work too. Interpreting data into easily digestible and actionable information is a specialty Kay has developed over time.

An actionable plan for success that includes key metrics and peer-to-peer support can have a significant impact on your business. Kay has led successful peer groups for decades and guided franchisees, franchisors and international franchise partners on how to leverage peer-to-peer support.

Since she and her former business partner sold their business in 2023, Kay knew she needed peer-to-peer support, so she started her own accountability group of business owners and continues to harness the power of groups for her own personal and professional growth.

Kay grew up on a farm within the Midwest of the US and has a strong work ethic. Her mother was a hospice nurse who taught Kay the value of quality over quantity of life. As a farmer, Kay’s father was a strong advocate for conservation and sustainable agriculture. He implemented several conservation practices, including terraces, waterways and shelter belts of trees into his farm operation and the family remains involved in ensuring these practices are maintained.

Terrace cultivation is a method of growing crops on sides of hills by planting on graduated terraces built into the slope. Though labor-intensive, this method has been employed effectively around the world to maximize arable land in variable terrains and to reduce soil erosion and water loss.

Therefore, terraces are a series of steps, which are connected but may not be symmetrical. They promote intensive stages of growth, while minimizing erosion to protect sustainable growth for the future. Terraces have special meaning for Kay considering what she learned from both parents about maximizing quality over quantity and responsible stewardship of natural resources.

In many ways, these series of steps parallel the life cycle of a business. The steps within an organization’s life cycle are connected but may not be symmetrical. Business leaders strive for growth in many areas, while taking steps to protect the organization’s future.

Kay is genuinely interested in other’s success and usually starts the conversation with “Tell me what’s going on.” Her authenticity and approachable nature help create a collaborative environment for any colleague, customer or friend. She would welcome the opportunity to talk with you to find out how she can help your business.
